Hi, I’m Somona — and my path has been anything but linear.

Hola!

I’m a creative director and project manager who grew up in Atlanta and has since been shaped by every city, career pivot, and courageous leap that followed. I help founders and creatives build brands, make decisions, and execute ideas — with strategy, intention, and a whole lot of heart.

My Story

Hampton

Dallas

Atlanta

Madrid

…and everywhere in between

  • Atlanta, spreadsheets, and a quiet feeling something was off.

I started my career in finance. On paper, it made sense — stable, respectable, a clear ladder to climb. And for a while, I climbed it. Corporate baddie by day, secretly sketching out a completely different life in the margins.

But there was always this pull. Toward creativity. Toward storytelling. Toward making things that meant something. I couldn't explain it logically — and for a long time, I didn't try. I just kept showing up to work and saved the dreaming for later.

Later came faster than I expected.

  • Quitting the job, packing the bags, and doing it scared.

I quit. Sold my car and packed my life into a few suitcases — the kind of packing that forces you to decide what actually matters — and I left. Not because I had a plan. Not because I felt ready. But because staying in a life that didn't fit felt more terrifying than the unknown.

“I guess I’ll just do it scared.”

I had written those words in an unpublished blog post before I ever boarded the plane. At the time it felt like a shaky first step. Looking back, it was the most honest thing I'd ever written — and the truest thing I know about how growth actually works.

  • Where I became the creative I used to only imagine I could be.

Spain didn't just change my address. It changed my eyes. Living in Madrid — studying, stumbling, building from scratch in a country where I didn't speak the language fluently (poco a poco) — cracked me open in ways a classroom alone never could have.

I earned my Master's degree in Creative Direction, Content, and Branding — and I earned it the hard way, surrounded by people from all over the world, building projects that demanded I show up fully. I produced an editorial magazine filled with the voices of wanderers and dreamers and doers who looked a lot like me.

Madrid was my classroom, my muse, and my mirror. From early morning walks through narrow streets to late nights of laughter in café corners — I grew into the creative I once only imagined I could be.

  • Not how I planned it. Maybe better.

Let's be honest: coming back wasn't the plan.

I didn't move to Spain, earn a Master's, build projects from scratch, and fall in love with a city just to end up right back where I started. That wasn't the story I'd written for myself. And for a while, I measured that gap — between where I imagined I'd be and where I actually was — as evidence that something had gone wrong.

"What if uncertainty isn't a detour? What if it's an invitation?"

I've been sitting with that question a lot lately. Because somewhere between disappointment and reflection, I started seeing this season differently. Not as empty space, but as open space. Space to think. Space to design. Space to build the kind of career I actually want — instead of rushing into one I've already outgrown.

The truth is, I've always wanted to work for myself. Not just to leave one corporation for another, but to build something that feels aligned, meaningful, and mine. Somona.Brown LLC is that — born not from a perfectly thought out plan, but from a quiet pivot. A realignment of sorts. A choice to trust the process even when the process looked nothing like I expected.

This is still a becoming. And I'm doing it the only way I know how — scared, grateful, and moving forward anyway.

What I believe

The principles I bring to every client…

On Identity

Readiness is a myth. The best moves I've ever made — and the best work I've ever seen — happened before anyone felt prepared.

1

You don’t have to feel ready.

On Courage

On Creativity

The most effective creative work is both rigorous and human. I don't separate the two — I bring both, every time.

2

Strategy and soul aren’t opposites.

On Process

Vague deliverables, unclear timelines, and fuzzy goals don't serve anyone. I bring structure so you can focus on the work that matters.

3

Clarity is a form of kindness.

Where you've been, what you've overcome, what you care about — that's not background noise. That's your brand's most powerful asset. Let’s use it.

4

Your story is your strategy.

On Growth

The messy middle isn't a problem to solve — it's where the real work happens. I'm comfortable here. And I'll help you be too.

5

The in-between is part of it.

On Partnership

I show up like a collaborator, not a contractor. Your wins matter to me because your work matters — period.

I’m in your corner, not just on your payroll.

6

If you've made it this far — thank you. Really. It means you're the kind of person who actually reads the About page, which means you care about who you're working with, not just what they can do.

That tells me a lot. And it means we're probably going to work well together.

I'm still figuring things out. I'm still growing into this. But I'm doing it with everything I have — and I'll bring that same energy to whatever you're building.

Welcome to the in-between. It's a good place to be.

With a full heart,

Somona Brown
