Mira Magazine

“Sometimes home is the place that just let’s you be…”

The Ask:
Design a visual and editorial identity for a publication (magazine, fanzine, book, or catalogue), showcasing a strong conceptual foundation, a clear art direction, and solid editorial layout skills.

Mira is a narrative-driven print magazine exploring what it means to move through Madrid as a foreigner—to arrive, adjust, find community, and ultimately feel seen. Rooted in the lived experiences of immigrants, the magazine combines long-form interviews, personal essays, neighborhood vignettes, and soulful portrait photography. With a design language inspired by 90s Atlanta, urban culture, and contemporary independent magazines like Posture, Mira embodies an aesthetic of softness, rhythm, and representation. The project aims to spotlight voices often overlooked in mainstream narratives about life abroad, celebrating the city’s acceptance, its neighborhoods’ distinct identities, and the idea that home is often something we grow into, not out of.
